BAE Systems Bofors works to strengthen defense capabilities in Sweden and in our partner states around the world. We do this by developing, producing, and selling the world's most advanced defense materials. BAE Systems Bofors operates along the entire Swedish defense political security belt and the company has approximately 750 employees located in Karlstad, Karlskoga, and Örebro. The company is part of one of the world's largest defense industrial groups, BAE Systems, with over 100,000 employees. This gives us unique opportunities to combine our long tradition of local expertise with world-leading international experience.

Do you want to lead programs that truly make a difference – in an organization where technology, business, and social responsibility meet?

BAE Systems Bofors is in an expansive phase and is now looking for several program managers for our Program and Aftermarket Department in Karlskoga.

The recruitment concerns two product areas: our air defense system Archer and the area of Ammunition. We are looking for both experienced program managers and those who are early in their careers but have already gained practical experience in project management and want to take the next step in more complex commitments.

Our values lay the foundation. Our values permeate our entire operation – high quality, professionalism, innovation, and reliability. Together with our subcontractors, we strive for technical excellence and to continuously develop our working methods. In a troubled world, the defense industry is more important than ever, and we at BAE Systems Bofors take great responsibility for contributing to defense capabilities in Sweden and in our partner countries.

Become a part of our dedicated team. With us, you will encounter strong commitment, high competence, and a culture where we support each other. We work in cross-functional teams and deliver products and services for defense and security – which places high demands on quality at all levels. Here, there is both job satisfaction, pride, and a clear sense of belonging.

About the position. As a program manager, you have overall responsibility for leading and coordinating customer commitments from business to delivery. The role involves driving and coordinating several parallel activities and projects within the framework of a program, with responsibility for the overall picture, progress, and business.

You lead cross-functional teams with representatives from development, production, quality, purchasing, and finance, and ensure that deliveries are made according to set goals for time, cost, and quality. You are a central contact point towards the customer and internal stakeholders and operate in the intersection of technology, business, and relationships.

Depending on your experience, the role will be adjusted in scope and complexity, but the role includes, among other things:

  • Ensuring resource supply and prioritization within the program
  • Monitoring finances, timelines, risks, and quality
  • Working closely with product management, technology, finance, and marketing
  • Being the program's primary external interface towards the customer
  • Identifying opportunities for upselling and further development of existing contracts
  • Contributing to the development of working methods, processes, and methodologies

Qualifications. We are looking for someone who enjoys responsibility and has the ability to create structure in complex contexts. Whether you are more or less experienced, we see that you have a solid foundation in project management.

You should have:

  • A university degree, for example in engineering, industrial economics, or equivalent. Or work experience that we assess to be equivalent.
  • Experience in project management, for example as a project manager, sub-project manager, or in a coordinating role in projects (the less experienced role is not intended for recent graduates)
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • A structured working method, good prioritization skills, and a strong sense of responsibility
  • The ability to collaborate and communicate with many different stakeholders

For more experienced program managers:

  • Experience in leading larger projects or programs with complex deliveries
  • Negotiation experience and experience in contract work
  • The ability to take clear overall responsibility in business-critical commitments

Industry and product knowledge, especially within the defense industry or other technically complex operations, is a merit.

Personal qualities. You are a confident and clear leader who creates engagement and trust. You are business-minded, solution-oriented, and thrive in a role with many contact points. You have the ability to make decisions even in complex situations and feel responsible for both the whole and the details.

Working with us. BAE Systems Bofors is part of a global group with operations in Sweden, the USA, and the UK, among others. This gives you the opportunity to work in an international environment and develop alongside some of the industry's most experienced specialists.

We offer a stimulating work environment where we invest in both your personal and professional development. You will receive a solid introduction, continuous support, and good opportunities to grow in line with your role. We value work-life balance through flexible working hours, health-promoting initiatives, and occupational health services.

As a permanent employee, you will have access to benefits such as stock programs, wellness grants, parental pay, social activities, and a modern gym. With us, there is present leadership and a family culture where professionalism and community go hand in hand.

Information and application. We work with ongoing selection, which means that positions may be filled before the application deadline. Therefore, do not wait to submit your application.

The position involves work in a security-sensitive operation and requires an approved security review according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585). Citizenship requirements may apply.

Location: Karlskoga (travel may occur)

Start: By agreement
